Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his position following a further heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Player Response

Slot lamented recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to its rightful place, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
