Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
