Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.

A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country struggling with entrenched crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on the afternoon of Tuesday.

Authorities reported the 40-year-old entertainer was accosted by three individuals, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.

The reason behind the attack has not been established and no one has been arrested have taken place, police said.

Police indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a premises in the vicinity of the city center landmark.

He had devoted time at the building overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, it was reported.

"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," an official report said.

Security camera video reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what appeared to be a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was hit but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.

It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the attack.

Crucial forensic evidence, like cartridges, were recovered from the location.

Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have have information to contact them.

"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been attempting to locate them to determine their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

His family member, a close relative, expressed the family was struggling to process his death.

"Words fail me. I am shattered," she said.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were willing to discuss. This is a devastating blow."

Stock was the presenter of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that was broadcast on a popular local TV network.
