Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have stated that a former physician stands accused of performing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Charges

The charging documents outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
